My short stories are often sparked off by something I see or overhear that strikes me as interesting or strange. The short story is a great form in which to explore ideas in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways. My favourite short story writers are Anton Chekhov, Katherine Mansfield, Flannery O’Connor and Raymond Carver.
